Who we are : Staff at toyhouse

Toyhouse has an experienced team of 23 mainly part time staff, most of whom either live locally or have done so in the past.  Staff come from a range of ethnic groups, reflecting the local community, and between them, are speakers of at least 12 languages. 

Staff have qualifications in a range of areas including early years work, social work, education, teaching, play, science, medicine, finance.  This varied knowledge base is shared amongst staff members to ensure services are delivered in holistic way to the benefit of local families. 

There are 3 senior staff, three of whom make up the Strategy Group who work with the Management Committee to consider upcoming issues and the future development of the organisation.  The Senior Staff group staff members take responsibility for the main areas of Toyhouse service provision;

• Toy Library services
• Soft Play services
• Mobile services

 

The Toyhouse Management Committee is elected annually at the AGM and brings together up to 15 people either as representatives of member groups or those who have a clear interest in, and commitment to, the service provision made by Toyhouse.  Committee members most commonly either live or work locally and many are parents themselves. 

Committee members have a range of qualifications and experience between them including Head teacher, Early years teachers, Nursery nurses, Social worker, Children’s Centre Manager, Special Needs teacher, Training and Development, Health professional, Community project workers, crèche worker, Teaching assistant and self employed business manager.

The Committee holds its meetings approximately every 2 months plus the AGM.  It usually hold a joint meeting with the staff team once a year.

The Management Committee has 3 standing sub committees as follows:

• Staffing sub Committee, which deals with personnel matters
• Finance sub Committee, which deals with financial matters
• Service Delivery sub Committee, which scrutinises the service provision.
